Burns Night

So looking back to a few weeks ago, at James Cochran EC3 we celebrated Burns Night, honouring James heritage of being half Scottish on his Dads side. What is Burns Night? Robert Burns was a famous Scottish poet, so famous the Scottish celebrate his birthday on the 25th January, which is now renamed Burns Night. Burns Night typically is a supper and drinks, mainly consisting of Haggis and Whiskey.

We were celebrating this with a tasting menu with accompanying Whiskey cocktails made by Fraser from Dewars, our sponsor that night. Dewars have been around for a while, John Dewar was the first Scotsman to blend Whiskey...

A blended whiskey (or blended whisky) is the product of blending different types of whiskeys and sometimes also neutral grain spirits, coloring, and flavorings. It is generally the product of mixing one or more higher-quality straight or single malt whiskies with less expensive spirits and other ingredients.

We were treated to raw venison in chicory, scallops with black pudding crumble, Treacle-cured Salmon, Chicken with haggis fritter and whiskey cream, cranachan and to finish a deep fried Mars bar.

If all this sounds good your ears, come back next year for Burns Night, in the meantime come check out James ever changing 5 and 8-course tasting menu's at EC3.
